Compare the archive’s SHA-256 with the value above.

Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 -LiteralPath '.\Romestead-Companion-0.2.0-windows.zip'

Install

Extract the package into its own folder, keeping the scripts folder. Start Steam and close Romestead. Open PowerShell in the extracted folder.

Launch

Find your installation through Steam’s Browse local files. Replace -GamePath below with that folder, then run the command.

powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\scripts\Launch-Romestead.ps1 -GamePath "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\romestead"

Connect

Load your world, open the map here and choose Connect. If your browser asks for local-network access, allow it for this site.

The launcher allows https://romestead.site and http://127.0.0.1:4597. Another site address requires an explicit -AllowedOrigins value.

Map updates

Player movement and nearby objects update at most once a second, within the area currently loaded by the game. Distances use the game’s tiles.

Your own local host supplies a full exterior snapshot on connection. Choose “Refresh observations” to update it; distant objects keep their last observed state between refreshes.

A requested refresh waits while the server is paused and continues after it resumes. Requesting it does not unpause the game.

Dungeon maps

Select a dungeon on the world map, then choose “Dungeon map” to view room maps and chest locations.

Possible contents are loot candidates. Observed contents come from existing treasure inventories supplied for your current room. Unopened treasure may still be unrolled; not observed does not mean empty.

Room maps and chest observations stay in this browser as last seen. A challenge dungeon’s final random layout is known only after the game has created it.

Personal pins

Pin editing is off by default. Relaunch with -AllowPersonalPinWrites to add, rename or remove your native personal markers. Grave markers cannot be edited.

powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\scripts\Launch-Romestead.ps1 -GamePath "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\romestead" -AllowPersonalPinWrites

World management

The separate management mod controls your own hosted world. The map companion works on its own; joining someone else’s host does not grant control.

The management download is not available yet. You can use the map companion on its own.

Disconnect

Choose Disconnect on the map. Close the game to stop the companion. Paused or disconnected movement, fights and weather are no longer live.

Update

Close the game, extract the new package into its own folder and use its launcher. Your game saves and browser/account plans remain in place.

Remove

Close the game and launch normally from Steam. Delete the companion folder when finished. Existing game saves, plans and native pins remain.

Recover

Check that Steam is running, -GamePath is correct and the game was opened with the launcher. Check the browser permission and the allowed site address.

If another startup hook is configured, the launcher refuses to overwrite it. Remove that conflict through the other hook’s own instructions.

Privacy and coverage

Game observations travel directly to this browser over loopback, not through the website server. No save file is uploaded. A target cue lasts only for the session; enabled personal-pin edits use the game’s ordinary map save.

Remote multiplayer supplies client-visible areas. Complete exterior snapshots require your own local host. Storage not supplied by the game stays unknown. Private remote inventories and quests are excluded.

A seed map predicts the initial world. Supplied game terrain and locations describe your actual save. Old saves do not record the full original generation runtime; missing or changed fields stay unavailable.
